This Privacy Policy describes how RoleGaku, Inc. ("RoleGaku," "Jouzu," "we," "our," or "us") collects, uses, shares, and otherwise processes information when you use the Jouzu mobile application and related services (the "Service").
By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, please do not use the Service.
We collect information that you provide directly to us, information generated through your use of the Service, and certain technical information about your device and interactions with the Service.
When you create an account, we collect information such as your email address, password, and one-time passcodes (OTP) used for verification and account security purposes.
We collect content that you create, submit, upload, transmit, or otherwise make available while using the Service. This may include, without limitation:
text messages sent through AI chat; audio recordings and speech input; flashcards created through the sentence inspector feature; lesson responses; language exercises; pronunciation attempts; and other learning interactions or content you choose to create within the Service.
If you use speech features, we collect and process audio recordings of your speech. These recordings may be analyzed to evaluate pronunciation, speech patterns, and language learning performance.
Audio recordings and related data may be stored and used to improve speech recognition systems, pronunciation analysis systems, and other language learning technologies.
We collect information about how you use the Service. This may include information such as lessons completed, learning progress, features used, content interactions, time spent using various features, and general interaction patterns within the application.
We may collect certain information about the device you use to access the Service, including device type, operating system, application version, IP address, and similar technical information reasonably necessary to operate, secure, and improve the Service.
We may use analytics tools and providers to collect information about how users interact with the Service in order to improve functionality, performance, reliability, and user experience.
We use the information we collect for business and operational purposes, including to:
provide, maintain, operate, and improve the Jouzu Service; deliver AI-generated responses and language learning features; analyze pronunciation and speech patterns; personalize or improve language learning tools and educational features; improve and train machine learning systems; monitor usage and performance of the Service; detect abuse, fraud, misuse, and security issues; moderate content and enforce our Terms of Service; communicate with you about your account, support requests, updates, and security matters; and comply with legal obligations.
User content, including text conversations, audio recordings, pronunciation data, speech patterns, and other interactions with the Service, may be used to improve Jouzu’s machine learning systems.
This may include improving language learning algorithms, speech recognition systems, pronunciation analysis systems, and AI language models used within the Service.
Such improvements may involve automated processing of data and use of content to develop, refine, evaluate, and enhance current or future features and related technologies.
To improve system quality, detect abuse, support moderation decisions, and maintain service safety, certain user content may be reviewed by authorized personnel. This may include reviewing chat conversations, audio recordings, and other interactions with the Service.
Users should not submit sensitive personal information through the Service. This includes, by way of example, passwords, financial information, payment card details, government identification numbers, health information, or other highly sensitive data.
If you choose to submit such information despite this warning, you do so at your own risk, subject to applicable law.
We may share information in the following circumstances:
We may share information with service providers that help us operate the Service, such as cloud hosting providers, infrastructure providers, analytics providers, security providers, customer support tools, and technical service providers.
Certain features may rely on third-party AI services and APIs to generate responses, process language input, analyze speech, or support other Service functionality.
In-app purchases are processed through Apple App Store and Google Play Store. We do not collect or store payment card information for purchases processed by those platforms.
We may share or transfer information in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, sale of assets, bankruptcy, or other corporate transaction involving all or part of our business.
We may disclose information if we believe doing so is necessary or appropriate to comply with applicable law, legal process, or governmental request; to enforce our terms and policies; to protect the rights, property, or safety of RoleGaku, our users, or others; or to detect, prevent, or address fraud, abuse, security, or technical issues.
We retain account information, chat history, audio recordings, and related data as long as reasonably necessary to operate and improve the Service unless a user requests deletion, subject to applicable legal obligations and legitimate business needs.

Upon a verified request, we will delete user data within a reasonable timeframe, typically within 30 days, except where retention is required or permitted by applicable law, necessary for security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, enforcement of agreements, or other legitimate legal or operational purposes.
The Service is not intended for children under the age of 13.
If the laws in a user’s jurisdiction require a higher minimum age for valid consent to data processing, that higher age requirement may apply.
If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without appropriate consent, we will take steps to delete that information as required by applicable law.
The Service is operated from the United States. By using the Service, you understand that your information may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States and other jurisdictions where we, our affiliates, or our service providers operate.
Those jurisdictions may have data protection laws that differ from those in your place of residence. Where required by applicable law, we will take appropriate steps to provide adequate safeguards for cross-border transfers of personal information.
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction.
However, no method of transmission over the internet, no mobile application, and no method of electronic storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Accordingly, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have legal rights regarding your personal information, which may include the right to request access to personal information we hold about you, request correction of inaccurate information, request deletion of your information, or object to or request restriction of certain processing.

Requests may also be submitted by contacting support@rolegaku.com. We may take reasonable steps to verify your identity before acting on a request.
Where applicable law requires a legal basis for processing personal information, we may process your information on one or more of the following bases: to provide and perform the Service you request; to comply with legal obligations; to pursue our legitimate interests in operating, securing, improving, and developing the Service; and, where required, with your consent.
The Service may rely on or interoperate with third-party services, including hosting providers, analytics providers, AI providers, infrastructure providers, and app distribution platforms. This Privacy Policy does not apply to the practices of third parties except as otherwise required by law, and we encourage you to review the privacy policies of those third parties where relevant.
We do not sell personal information to advertisers, and we do not share personal information with advertisers for targeted advertising based on your use of the Service as described in this Privacy Policy.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this document. If required by applicable law, we may also provide additional notice of material changes.
Your continued use of the Service after an updated Privacy Policy becomes effective means that you acknowledge the updated Privacy Policy to the extent permitted by law.
